Sore Throat Most sore throats are due to a virus infection and will get better within a few days. You will often notice white spots on the tonsils and swollen glands in the neck when you have a sore throat and there is a rise in temperature. Treatment is with soluble aspirin in water used as a gargle then swallowed. Paracetamol medicine is better for children. You can repeat this treatment every four hours. Drink plenty even if you don't feel like eating very much. You should see your doctor if the sore throat is getting worse after two days or if there is earache as well. key 0 for index
