Sponge impregnated with spermicide.
Inserted into vagina before intercourse
to create a barrier to the sperm. Must
be left in at least 6 hours afterwards.
Advantages
No risk of side effects of the pill.
Obtainable without prescription.
Disadvantages
Not very reliable. Quite expensive.
Have to plan ahead and fit it before
lovemaking. It requires some skill to
use. (Family Planning clinics will show
you how to use it properly.)
