Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

    Cervical Cancer    The Smear Test

The smear test may show other types
of disease which are easily treated.

There is no clear evidence pointing
to the exact cause of cervical cancer,
but it may be related to genital wart
 virus infection or other sexually
 transmitted diseases.

It is much less common in women who
are not active sexually or who use a
 sheath or diaphragm.

To prevent cervical cancer you should
limit your sexual partners and consider
barrier methods. Make sure you have a
 smear test every few years.
