Offline Database

Healthdata was also available as a disc based offline database, also in the viewdata format.  It seems as if it was mostly a copy of the online content, so we present it here for your delight and access..

    Cervical Cancer    The Smear Test

The cervix is the part of the uterus
that projects into the vagina. Cervical
cancer can be cured if it is detected
in the early stages. The smear test can
show the very earliest changes in the
 cells taken from the cervix.

Smear tests should be taken when
sexual activity starts and then about
every 2-3 years. Your doctor can do the
test or you can go to any well women or
 family planning clinic.

The doctor will place an instrument
carefully in the vagina to see the
cervix and collect some cells from it
 to smear on a slide.
